At Ogden Nature Center, we unite people with nature, and create a community dedicated to environmental stewardship. We care for animals, restore open spaces, and inspire curiosity through hands-on programs for children, adults, and seniors.
This mission would not be possible without our incredible donors.
We wanted to give a special shout out to Otterwise, one of our generous donors!

About Otterwise
In Northern Utah, water connects everything, from the mountain streams that feed our valleys to the reservoirs that sustain our communities. That same connection inspired Otterwise Plumbing and Drain Cleaning, a local company built on respect for both people and the environment.

Founded by Carter Lovinggood, Otterwise grew from a lifelong love for Utah’s outdoors. Carter spent his younger years fly fishing the Provo River, Utah Lake, and Echo Reservoir, where he developed a deep appreciation for clean water, wildlife, and the peace found in nature. Many on the Otterwise team share that same passion, spending their free time hiking and camping across the Wasatch Front, enjoying the same landscapes they work to protect through their company’s mission.
The company’s mascot Teddy is named after President Theodore Roosevelt, whose legacy of conservation and environmental stewardship continues to inspire Otterwise’s values today. To Carter and his crew, Teddy is more than a logo. He is a reminder that honest craftsmanship and care for the natural world belong together.

Today, Otterwise serves homeowners throughout Ogden, Roy, Layton, and the surrounding areas, offering drain cleaning, leak detection, water heater installation, and water saving upgrades. Every visit includes shoe covers, a branded doormat, and clear up front pricing before any work begins. These small details reflect big respect for the people they serve and the homes they enter.
Otterwise has also helped fund projects that support Utah’s wildlife, including efforts to build animal migration bridges across major highways and contributed to one of the largest shorebird population surveys ever conducted in the state. The company also recently joined the Ogden Weber Chamber of Commerce, strengthening its commitment to community engagement and responsible local growth.

Most recently, Otterwise is proud to support the Ogden Nature Center, an organization that shares its passion for wildlife conservation and environmental education right here in the heart of Northern Utah. Through this partnership, Otterwise hopes to help protect the same natural beauty that first inspired its creation and continues to shape its mission today.
“Plumbing is great and all, but what really pulls my heart is this great state, and the land we have stewardship over,” says founder Carter Lovinggood. “Urbanization is a necessity, but so is taking care of the wildlife that we share Ogden with. It's easy to go about your day and forget about that daunting task. We may not see these beautiful animals on a daily basis, but they're here, and we impact them greatly. Just look at what's been going on with the Great Salt Lake. We have a responsibility to care for this land, both wild and urban. I love what Ogden Nature Center is doing. The education, animal ambassador program, and the hard work they put in goes a long way for our state’s future. It's amazing that we have something like this right here in our own community.”
