Heidi Austin
Heidi grew up in Utah County, and has always had a deep love for exploring outdoors. She got her bachelor's degree in Wildlife and Wildlands Conservation at Brigham Young University. While getting her undergraduate, Heidi spent most of her summers in internships monitoring bird and small animal populations. She is a NAI Certified Interpretive Guide, and is CPR/First Aid certified.
Heidi's childhood hero was Dr. Jane Goodall, and Heidi originally planned to go into research studying animal behavior. However, Heidi discovered a new passion her senior year while working as an educator at the Monte L. Bean Life Sciences Museum. She worked closely with the public and volunteers, and found great enjoyment in connecting people to the natural world around them. She pursued that passion at Loveland Living Planet Aquarium, where she worked as an educator and educational content specialist. She especially enjoyed working with Aquarium volunteers, and helping them to grow in their confidence and professional skills.
Heidi is enjoying her time at the Ogden Nature Center and getting to know the Ogden community better. In her free time, Heidi enjoys trying new things and keeping herself busy. Most often she can be found reading, hiking, entertaining her nieces and nephews, singing, bird watching, donating blood, or playing dungeons & dragons with her friends.
