Snow Removal Team

Help keep the Ogden Nature Center maintained and usable during the harsh winter months! Members of the snow removal team are crucial in helping clear paths and key areas on snowy days so that visiting school children and guests are able to safely get around the Ogden Nature Center.

Key Responsibilities

  • Come to the Ogden Nature Center if it snows on your assigned day
  • Ensure the safety of visitors by clearing snow and scraping ice
  • Checking weather and outdoor conditions to determine if you need to come in
  • Be present on your assigned day if there are hazardous, snowy weather conditions

Length of Appointment

You are responsible for at least one day a week. Snow removal team members are needed starting at 8 am on days that it snows. You can expect to spend about an hour on your day, depending on the severity of the conditions.

Time Commitment

The time required will vary depending on event dates. You can expect to put in 2-3 hours of service on mailing days, which occur roughly once a month.

Qualifications

  • Able to shovel, scrape, bend over, and exert yourself
  • Must be dependable—we will be counting on you to come in on your assigned day and remove snow before school programs and guests arrive
  • Must be respectful of staff, visitors and other volunteers
  • Must be willing to get outside and have fun!
  • Tools will be provided

Support

Volunteers will undergo an orientation and receive a volunteer handbook. In addition, mailing committee volunteers will receive job-specific training with their direct supervisor.
