Front Desk Assistant

The position of the Front Desk Assistant serves as the receptionist for the Ogden Nature Center, supporting the mission of uniting people with nature and nurturing appreciation and stewardship of the environment. The Front Desk Assistant represents the organization to the public who visit or contact the Ogden Nature Center.

Key Responsibilities

  • Answers phones and direct callsGreets guests and orients them to the property
  • Answers questions of the Ogden Nature Center
  • Prepares correspondence as needed
  • Assists in cleaning and keeping the gift shop, office and discovery room organized
  • Data entryOther duties as assigned

Length of Appointment

The front desk assistant will be assigned to one day a week to train with the visitor’s services staff for a period of one month. After one month, they may be reappointed for an additional three month period where they will be working independently in the position.

Time Commitment

One day per week; shifts and hours are flexible.

Qualifications

  • Must be over the age of 18
  • Must pass a background check
  • Basic knowledge of computer and data entry
  • Pleasant manner, patient and dependable

Support

Volunteers will undergo an orientation and receive a volunteer handbook. In addition, education program assistants will be working closely with teacher/naturalists on staff and the education director for specific training and questions.
