Education Program Assistant

Education program assistants work with teacher/naturalists on staff to run environmental education programs for visiting school groups. As an education program assistant you will help support our mission to unite people with nature and nurture appreciation and stewardship of the environment. If you love working with kids and teaching about the natural world this is the job for you!

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist teacher/naturalists during school field trips, preschool and homeschool programs
  • Help prepare materials for school programs
  • Help with setup and cleanup before and after programs

Length of Appointment

The education program assistant must be able to commit to a period of at least six months.

Time Commitment

Education program assistants are expected to volunteer one day per week during school programs. There is also one mandatory training day per month for all teacher/naturalists and education program assistants.


  • Must be over the age of 18
  • Must pass a background check
  • Prior teaching experience is a plus
  • Must be dependable
  • Must be willing to learn and have fun!


Volunteers will undergo an orientation and receive a volunteer handbook. In addition, education program assistants will be working closely with teacher/naturalists on staff and the education director for specific training and questions.
