Parker Balla

Parker has a BS in Environmental Science with a minor in Geography from Slippery Rock University in Pennsylvania. He is a NAI Certified Interpretive Guide, Leave No Trace Trainer, EPA Pesticide Handler, and has AEGIS De-escalation Training.

Before starting his role as the Volunteer Coordinator at the Ogden Nature Center, Parker worked in various outdoor conservation and education roles. From farming and teaching students on an educational farm in California, to working on trail crews all over the southwest, he is happiest when he is outside, working with other people and swinging tools.

He originates from Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, but has been in the west for most of the last eight years. Parker enjoys climbing mountains, camping, board games, bagels, thought-provoking questions, and playing soccer. He thru-hiked the Appalachian Trail in 2019 and can be found in the mountains or desert in his free time.

Parker is involved with anything and everything volunteer related at ONC: events, habitat restoration and land management, our animal feeders, and our summer Volunteen program, to name a few. He started in his current position at the Nature Center in the fall of 2021.
